How we use our funds

The funds raised by Keech Hospice Care are largely spent on fulfilling the charity’s aim. This is to ensure our patients and their families receive the very best quality of care in the time they have together and through bereavement.

During 2009-10 we continued to make enhancements to our services, the most significant of which was the completion of building work on a new adult In-patient Unit with 8 en suite bedrooms. This was greatly supported by a combination of government grants, contributions from charitable trusts and donations made by individuals and groups. The new unit has helped us to ensure the adult hospice keeps pace with modern methods of palliative care while offering patients and their families the very best hospice experience.

In 2010-11 we expect it will cost just under £5m to provide all the patient care and support services across both hospices. This excludes the costs involved in raising income through fundraising and running our charity shops and lottery. We continuously monitor expenditure at the charity to make sure we spend money wisely.

This year, vital funds raised by our community will, once again, form the vast majority of the funds we need.
