15 - 22 May 2010 The week has moved from September to May for 2010 and will have the theme of heroes to raise awareness of the many heroes that help to care for children with life-limiting conditions. There will be a national children’s art auction called 'This is my hero' and a whole host of hero related activities to get involved in. Watch this space! Children’s Hospice Week is designed to highlight the important work that children’s hospices do to support terminally ill children and their families. The emblem for children's hospices across the UK is the beautiful butterfly; a symbol that represents a colourful, yet delicate and short life. Children's Hospice Week echoes this with activities based on a butterfly theme. Children’s Hospice Week is a time to remember the work we do and, most importantly, the children and families who rely on us for the specialist care and support we provide in their own home or at the children’s hospice itself. There's lots of ways to celebrate Children’s Hospice Week 2010 and raise money, including: - Hold a butterfly themed event. This could be anything, but we especially like the thought of a butterfly tea party with plenty of butterfly cakes to sell to your friends!
- Adults, wear your butterfly wings to work whilst the kids can dress as an insect for the day.
- Sell a box of butterfly badges at home, work or in the community.
- Take part in one of the Association for Children’s Hospices organised Swimathon’s throughout the month.
