| Famous personalities from the music, television, film and sporting worlds each created a butterfly-inspired work of art, which raised over £8,000 on eBay during a 10 day auction. The artworks included signed tour artwork from Coldplay, which went for £1,260, and Elaine Paige, whose ‘Cats’ themed butterfly sold for £770. The collection also included the artwork of Katherine Jenkins (raising £722.50), Rupert Grint (£560), The Chris Moyles team (£311.50), Martin Kemp (£320), Theo Walcott (£122), Alesha Dixon (£155) and Louise Goodman and Jenson Button (£206). Laura Devine, organiser of The Chrysalis Collection, said: “This is the first time Keech has attempted something like this – and we are delighted to have the support from so many well known celebrities and to raise so much money for our hospice services.” “The collection had an array of beautiful butterflies and has proved popular not only locally, but all over the world!” Funds raised by the auction will make a valuable contribution towards our hospices. With this in mind, the Butterfly theme was chosen to represent the beauty of all lives, however short they may be. |
