Our Volunteers come from all walks of life and some will have experienced the need for help themselves in the past. All are carefully selected, trained and supported by Volunteers Co-ordinators.
The co-ordinator is the first point of contact in all matters relating to our service. The volunteers are subject to security checks during training to ensure they are trustworthy individuals.
An initial visit will be undertaken by a co-ordinator to assess the client’s particular needs and those of their carers. A volunteer will be selected and then introduced, and during each visit the volunteer will provide the agreed service.
As no two situations are identical we do not have any set criteria and this allows us to respond appropriately. The amount of time given at each visit is usually two hours however, in exceptional circumstances, additional help will be offered.
Perhaps you would be interested in joining our team as a volunteer? If so, then contact one of our co-ordinators for an informal chat - we are going to be running a 2-day training course in March. We are sure that you will find the role challenging, stimulating and extremely rewarding. You would join a team of some 45 like minded persons, some having been with the organisation more than 15 years.
