Bereavement services

blue flowersOur care does not end with the death of a loved one.

Keech Hospice Care offers a range of bereavement services to the family and friends of our adult patients. These include:

'Silver-lining' self help support groups

Everyone who attends these groups has lost someone close to them. The monthly meetings give members an opportunity to share their feelings with others who have had a similar experience. This is done in a safe and confidential environment.

One-to-one support

Some people prefer to talk to just one person. Our trained bereavement visitors can see people at home or at the hospice and provide an opportunity for people to talk individually about their loss and how they are feeling. Counselling can also be arranged for those with more complex needs.

Support for children

Children can experience the pain of loss as intensely as adults and they may find it difficult to talk to those close to them. Keech Hospice Care works closely with an organisation called CHUMS, which provides a variety of support services for children aged 5 - 16.

Remembrance events

We hold two remembrance events during the year. The first is our Family Thanksgiving and Remembrance Service, held at St Margaret's Church in Streatley in May. The second is Light up a Life. This is an opportunity for families to dedicate a light on our hospice Christmas tree in memory of their loved one. A service is held in early December, at which the tree is lit for the first time.

Our annual Light up a Life service was held on Sunday 27th November and Sunday 4th December 2011 here in the Hospice grounds. So we can continue to improve this event for families and patients we would be grateful if you could give us your comments of how you thought it went. Your views will help us to make the next 'Light up a Life' the best we can. Please complete this form and return it back to us. Thank you.

Tribute sites

Today, more and more people are expressing their feelings and memories about the life of a loved one online. Keech Hospice Care works with memorial web charity MuchLoved to help people create a dedicated tribute site on the internet.
