Admission criteria for our adult In-patient Unit
Patients who meet the referral criteria above may be admitted to our In-patient Unit for the following reasons:
- end of life care (e.g. last 72 hours);
- symptom control/assessment;
- acute anxiety/emotional support;
- clinical procedures (e.g. blood transfusion, pamidronate, pleural tap, etc.);
- palliative treatment support;
- carer breakdown (e.g. short admission of up to 48 hours to allow a package of care to be put in place to address carer breakdown).
Admission criteria for our Day Hospice
Patients who meet the referral criteria above may benefit from a course of attendances to our Day Hospice for the following reasons:
- symptom control/assessment;
- acute anxiety/emotional support;
- clinical procedures (e.g. blood transfusion, pamidronate, pleural tap, etc.);
- palliative treatment support.
