Complementary therapies

Complementary therapies are an important part of the care we provide at the children’s hospice.

Our trained therapists offer a range of treatments including:

  • baby massage
  • aromatherapy massage
  • reflexology
  • Reiki
  • Indian head massage
  • general massage.

Through relaxation, these treatments help alleviate feelings of anxiety, stress and pain.

Therapies can be carried out in a range of different environments to ensure a multi-sensory experience. The hydrotherapy pool with its warm water and soothing lights can be an excellent place for our therapists to provide a relaxing treatment.

Group complementary therapies

Every week our therapist carries out a group complementary therapy session with children and their carers at the hospice.

They teach a range of massage techniques that can help the parent and their child bond and aid symptom control.

Complementary therapies for the family

Caring for a child with complex health needs can be very stressful and time consuming for a parent.

Our therapists offer the opportunity for parents to enjoy a relaxing therapy treatment and can provide oils and advice to help with stress management, meditation and relaxation techniques.
