Caring for someone with a life-limiting illness can be demanding, emotionally tough and cause many practical difficulties for the person concerned.
Our Day Hospice supports carers by offering a weekly drop-in day. The session runs on Mondays from 10am – 4pm. It is open to carers of our adult patients, including those who have been discharged.
While at the hospice, carers can:
- meet others in similar situations enjoy a range of complementary therapies speak to our social worker seek benefits advice develop skills in coping and relaxation access emotional support gain advice on symptom control seek help and advice in supporting children
For anyone who has attended the six-week carers’ course, run jointly by Macmillan and Keech Hospice Care, the drop-in day offers a means of continuing support.
Like all our services, the drop-in day is offered entirely free of charge. Light refreshments are available throughout the day and transport can be provided, by prior arrangement.
