The ability to appreciate and respond to music is an inborn quality in all human beings. At Keech, we offer children the opportunity to explore, express, be listened to and experience themselves through music, without the need for words.
Our music therapist will work with the child (either on a one to one basis or in a small group), encouraging them to use instruments or their own voice, and will listen and work with the sounds the child can make, at whatever level (there are no right or wrong notes in music therapy!)
There are many ways in which children of all ages can experience music therapy. These include:
- Improvisation (spontaneous music making)
- Passive listening
- Song writing
- Singing
- Reflection
- Relaxation
- Music technology
Sessions can be held in our well equipped music room or in the child’s room and can involve just the individual child or members of their family too. Music therapy can also be conducted in the child's home as part of our 'Music on Wheels' service.
All music therapy sessions are lead by our qualified, HPC registered music therapists.
