To date, regulars at the pub have shelled out a massive £55,000 – the largest donation given to Keech from a pub.

Landlady Sue Hutchings said: 'We’ve fundraised throughout the year with raffles every Sunday. There’s a swear jar on the bar; we have a man who comes in and does ironing for payment which is donated to Keech; there’s seasonal raffles and golf days. There’s lots going on here to support Keech.'

Jacqui Shepherd added: 'This is a tremendous example of how communities raise much needed funds for us and we’d like to thank the regulars and staff at the Hen and Chickens for their continued support.

'It’s terrific and will make such a difference to the families of the children in Baldock and across Hertfordshire who we support.'

Claire yolked: 'Its Keech’s 21st Birthday next year. If pubs want to put on fundraising events to beat the Hen and Chicken’s total, Keech’s community fundraising team would love to hear about their plans!'
