Taylors estate agents donate Wii to Keech

24 October 2011

Derrick Bell, Regional Directopr of Taylors estate agents with some of the IPU nursesDerrick Bell, regional director of well known local estate agents Taylors, popped in to Keech Hospice care to present a Wii console to the adults service.

The hospice plans to install the Wii in the adults' unit so that users and carers can use it as part of their activity programme.

The games on the Wii Sports can easily be used by those who are not particularly mobile. It will supplement the Wii which is currently available in the children's unit and which is very popular.

Elaine Tolliday, the Adult Services Manager, said: 'We'd like to thank Taylors Estate Agents for thinking of us. This can be used by our patients and their families.

'Research shows that the use of the Wii improves balance and coordination skills and apart from that, it's a lot of fun.

'Laughter is a word which came out very strongly when we asked people to describe Keech and this is just going to add to the uplifting atmosphere which we try so hard to provide.'

Derrick added: 'People very close to me have had to use Keech Hospice and so I am pleased to be in a position to give something back.

'It's good to know that the Wii will be used by patients and their families and will make a difference.

'Taylors are very proud to support Keech Hospice Care. It's wonderful to have such good local facility.'
