Light up a Life 2011

27 October 2011

candles imageEach year we hold the Light up a Life dedication and remembrance service. These very special events give local people the opportunity to come together with others who have experienced a loss and take a moment to celebrate and remember the life of a much loved friend or relative. Some like to remember by making a dedication and donation for a light on the tree outside the front of the adult hospice building.

Last year, it was necessary to move the service to another venue because of building works here at the hospice. The building work has now all finished and this years service will be returning to the hospice.

We will be holding a short ceremony by the tree which includes carols, readings and music and concludes with the switching on of the lights on the tree. Families visiting the event are able to look at the dedications on boards, have refreshments and purchase Christmas items.

We are holding two Light Up A Life services on two consecutive Sundays - 27 November 2011 and 4 December 2011.

Mike Keel, Chief Executive of Keech Hospice Care said: 'I am delighted we are able to hold our annual Light Up A Life event back at the hospice this year. Now we have completed all our building works we feel we can safely accommodate this popular event back onsite. However, we will still need to restrict numbers to 500 attendees and for this reason we will be holding two events to make sure nobody misses out.'

We of course rely on volunteers to make this event a success. If you are able to help in any way, from setting up, volunteering around the hospice during the service, to clearing down after, on either Sunday or both, please contact Roz Reynolds on 01582 497655.
