Luton Federation of Allotments dug deep for Keech!

Luton Federation of Allotments

2 December 2011

The Luton Federation of Allotments has dug deep to raise a wonderful £2,500 towards the cost of a blood transfusion pump for use in Keech Hospice Care’s adult unit.

The team of avid gardeners pulled on their boots and got stuck in and have raised a staggering £16,000 over the past eight years.

This latest amount grew from a variety of fundraising activities including their annual Fruit and Produce Show in August 2011.

Elaine Tolliday, adult services manager at Keech, said: 'Thank you to all the wonderful members of the Luton Federation of Allotments.

'Each year they fundraise for us and we really appreciate it.'

The group plans do raise more money for Keech in 2012, when the charity will celebrate its 21st birthday.

The local growers, based all around the town, all are far from going to seed and looking for budding new growers to get involved in local allotments: to find out more about the group and how to join, please contact the Secretary of the Federation Mr George Clare on 01582 598367.
