Christmas comes early for lucky Keech Christmas Draw winners

15 December 2011

Pat Jennings (2nd left) draws the winning numbers!Keech Hospice Care’s Christmas Draw raised the magnificent sum of almost £40,000 this year, with 33 lucky people winning fantastic cash prizes.

The lucky winner of the £2,000 top prize lives in Luton with her husband. They are both long term supporters of the hospice and have been playing our weekly lottery for over 10 years with a membership each. She said: ‘I support Keech because it really does such an amazing job for people when they most need it. I was obviously delighted to get the top prize and think we’ll definitely be having a few treats this Christmas.’

Second and third prize winners were equally delighted with their £1000 and £500 Christmas bonuses.

Drawing out the winning numbers was 83 year-old Pat Jennings who attends the adult hospice’s Palliative Care Centre twice a week. The octogenarian, from Bramingham in Luton, has nothing but praise for the hospice that has been helping her cope with cancer of the liver and bowel for the last three months, saying:

‘The centre has such a friendly atmosphere. Everyone is so helpful and supportive and I’ve especially enjoyed the craft activities we do, the therapies like massage and just getting to know everyone. I truly look forward to coming and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is in a similar position to me.’

This year, Pat says she and her husband will be spending a quiet Christmas Day but enjoying the festivities with their family on Christmas Eve. She was delighted to be given the opportunity to get into the festive spirit early by picking out the winning tickets, saying:

‘I was chuffed to be asked to select the tickets for the Christmas Draw. It was really fun to do it with the Santa’s around me and hope all the people who’ve won enjoy their prizes.'
