Keech showcases Luton as a fairtrade town
20 November 2011
Children from Keech Hospice Care had their artwork showcased at the unveiling of Luton as a Fairtrade town in November.
Hand and footprints of the children were sewn on to canvas with the help of parents and Jodie McMonagle, a student from the Luton Sixth Form.
Keech staff and families also attended the official unveiling at Luton Town Hall.
Jennie Collier who oversaw the artwork design at Keech explains. 'We were approached by Grassroots, the organisation campaigning for Fairtrade adoption across Luton. We worked with the younger children here at Keech and painted their hands and feet and made imprints onto fabric, which Jodie sewed onto a canvas.
'As well as the official canvas hanging in the town hall, we have a duplicate here at Keech to remind us of the fun we had with the children making the picture.'
