Keech Hospice says thank you to The Corsairs, a local group of singers based in Elstow, also famous for being the birthplace of John Bunyan.
The entirely self-funding group of nine singers entertain audiences around Bedfordshire and beyond, some of whom have been performing for over 42 years. They started to support the Keech Hospice children’s service in 2008 because it was a good, well respected local cause and have since made the children’s service at Keech Hospice Care their permanent adopted charity.
The group tours around the country and were known as The Pirates until 2000 - he word 'Corsair' is another name for a pirate!
In 2011 they raised the sum of £3,050 from donations taken at their concerts which takes their grand total to £8,782 since 2008.
Jacqui Shepherd, fundraising director at Keech, said: 'They’re wonderful and we thank them. It’s the activity of groups and people in our community which keeps Keech going. We want to help more people with life limiting conditions around the region but to help more people, we need more people to get involved in raising money for us, just like The Corsairs do.Thank you to them all.'
