Midnight Walkers Raise £35,000 For Keech Hospice Care

A wonderful £35,000 was pledged on Saturday by 250 women taking part in Keech Hospice Care’s Midnight Walk. The group set off from Bedford’s Bunyan Centre around midnight and arrived back 10 miles later, tired but happy in the knowledge that they had helped raise vital funds for their local hospice. This great achievement means that Keech can continue its vital services, palliative care and support for adults living in Luton and South Bedfordshire and children from across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes.

The walk was kicked off by Award-winning chef Jean Christophe Novelli and to get the ladies moving, fitness instructors Stephen, Adam and Dwaine were there to encourage a light warm up. Rugby star, ex-England & London Irish Prop, Rob Hardwick, who is now Director of Rugby at Bedford Modern School, came to lend his support. Heart FM was also at the Walk, providing entertainment with their Heart Angels. With hundreds of walkers in fancy dress and many with personal stories to tell of loved ones cared for by staff at Keech Hospice Care, it was an evening of memories, fun and laughter!

“I’d like to thank all our walkers and also Jean Christophe and Heart FM for supporting our Walk and raising such a wonderful amount of money from all their efforts,” said Jacqui Shepherd, Fundraising Director at Keech Hospice Care. “The Walk is a great way for people not only to support us but to have a fun night out and even to make new friends through a shared experience.”
