Presenters from Heart radio station visited the hospice yesterday to celebrate the arrival of the brand new Starlight Fun Centre, donated by the station’s charity, Have a Heart.
Heart Breakfast hosts Stuart Miles & Natalie B were joined by morning presenter Toby Anstis and met children, adults and staff at the Hospice. The Fun Centre promises to offer lasting, year-round entertainment to the hospice’s children.
Heart, part of Global Radio, launched its charity Have a Heart in July last year to support projects that help disadvantaged children, specifically those who are vulnerable, face adversity, suffer from illness or are deprived of the childhood that every child deserves. In its first year, the charity raised £400,000 for its first charity beneficiary, Starlight Children’s Foundation. The money raised by Have a Heart has been used to fund 101 Starlight Fun Centres across the UK, along with 60 wishes that will be granted to seriously ill and life-limited children.
Heart hosted its first charity appeal in March this year. Listeners, presenters and celebrity supporters all got involved to help raise funds for seriously ill children, with the Have a Heart Appeal culminating in a fundraising extravaganza featuring a whole host of stars including JLS, Alexandra Burke, Toni Braxton and Pixie Lott and Heart presenters Emma Bunton, Jason Donovan and Toby Anstis.
Heart’s commitment to Keech Hospice Care will continue next year as Have a Heart supports Children’s Hospices UK through a series of events and fundraising, building on its success this year.
Heart Breakfast’s Stuart & Natalie said: “Keech Hospice Care does an incredible work to give both children and adults the highest quality of life possible and to help their families through very difficult times. Everyone at Heart is proud to support their inspiring work and to continue our commitment next year.”
