Keech Hospice Care’s Retail Manager, Philip Kojcinovic, today appealed for people to donate quality merchandise to Keech Hospice Care’s charity shops as the weather and current financial climate appears to be affecting the amount of goods the charity is receiving.
Donations to the shops are at their lowest ever levels. Philip said: “This is a time of financial uncertainty for many people and so people seem to be hanging on to what they have. That is causing an unusual problem for our shops, which are welcoming record numbers of customers but at the same time are struggling to fill rails and shelves.
“This is a situation that we can fully appreciate in the current climate but we are appealing to people to donate what they can and have a good clear out at home before Christmas. Keech shops play a vital part in raising the funds needed to maintain our adult and children’s hospice services.”
To keep the charity’s services running every year, 75% of its funds need to be raised by the local community. Keech Hospice Care’s shops normally raise in excess of £2 million a year in sales from the items donated by local people. Donating to the charity is a fantastic way of both helping the hospices and recycling things you no longer want.
Philip continued: “To keep our shops freshly stocked, we are grateful for donations of good quality clothing, books, bric-a-brac, small electrical goods, jewellery, toys, Christmas gifts and decorations.”
Donations can be delivered inside any Keech shop during opening hours, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm or to the warehouse on Britannia Estate, Leagrave Road, Visit www.keech.org.uk/shops for more details and shop locations. For larger items or loads, a free collection can be arranged by calling the warehouse on 0800 0323440, Monday to Friday
