Light up a Life

Guests at Light up a Life serviceOver the weekend of Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December, more than 900 people came along to the two Light up a Life services, held at the hospice.

These very special events gave local people the opportunity to come together with others who have experienced a loss and take a moment to celebrate and remember the life of a much loved friend or relative.

As in previous years, the ceremony included carols, readings, music and the switching on of the lights of remembrance on the hospice’s beautiful Christmas tree. This year, over 600 dedications were made; each one was displayed at the events and will remain on display at the hospice within a special Light up a Life book of dedications throughout the year ahead.

During both services, bereaved relatives from both the adult and children’s hospices, spoke about memories of their loved one and the hospice care they received and also helped to switch on the tree lights. Special thanks to Steve Samuel, Reece Brandon, Robin Nash and Heather Nash for bravely helping in this way.

Other highlights of the events included a new Light up a Life song written by the hospice’s music therapist; poems read by our nurses; and performances from Bramingham Primary School choir and Luton Choral Society.Light up a Life logo
