This September, The Mall Luton will be arresting members of the local community to take part in ‘Jail & Bail’, their latest fundraising initiative to support Keech Hospice Care.
At 9am on Thursday 8 September, a total of 15 local community and business members will be ‘arrested’ at the Town Hall and taken directly to a mock jail which is to be set up inside The Mall Luton. Some of the victims include High Sheriff 2012, Jack Sapsworth MBE, Peter Collins (who is one of our active volunteers), Mayor of Luton, Don Worlding and Chief Executive of Keech, Mike Keel.
The inmates will then have two hours to ring as many people as they can and raise money for their bail. All of the arrestees will have had time before their arrest to start raising sponsorship money but their time in the cells will be critical to ensure their release.
The inmates have also been asked to rally up as many of their friends and family as possible to visit them in jail for that essential emotional support!
The Mall have organised this event with the ambition to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity Keech Hospice Care. Last year The Mall raised a total of £6,000 for Keech and they are hoping to smash this!
Lavinia Douglass, Marketing Manager at The Mall Luton, said: 'This is set to be one of our most exciting fundraising events yet and we can’t wait to see the Jail taking shape and being filled with all of our wonderful inmates! We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone for agreeing to take part and making sure that this event is a success and we’re very excited to see how much money we can raise for Keech this year. It will be great to have as many people as possible coming to the Jail and seeing the tension build as we get closer to their release!'
To make a donation and get someone out of jail, come along to The Mall Jail, situated in Central Square (between Ernest Jones and Beaverbrooks) after your breakfast on Thursday 8 September and be a part of the fun! Or you can donate online by clicking on the Justgiving links below.
We can assure the public that no further arrests will be made!
