26 October 2011

£1350 was raised on the night through raffles and a series of fun activities.

The organiser was Rotarian Jack Sapsworth who was awarded an MBE in the 2008 Queen’s New Years Honours List, for his charitable works, especially for Keech Hospice. He explained: 'We have had many fun evenings at the Man Ho over several years raising a lot of funds for this special local charity. Each year we have the usual band of supporters and entertainment provided by local artists with raffle prizes donated by those who attend.

'I’d like to thank Cora at the Man Ho who contributes by giving us a special concession to help us fundraise for Keech Hospice Care.'

Mike Keel, chief executive at Keech added: 'I’d like to thank Jack Sapsworth for yet again coming up trumps and for organising this event and his fellow Rotarians and all the guests for their support at the evening which was great fun, and the Man Ho again for hosting the supper.

'Demands on our services continue to increase and we have to look more to our community to support the work we do as we only get 25% of our income from government or the NHS. Events like this really do help us to continue to support life limited children and adults and their families in the Luton area.'
