Farewell to three trustees

Three of the charity's longest serving trustees stepped down at our AGM. We would like to thank Jack Sapsworth, John Maddox and Dr. Paddy O’Donnell for their great service to our hospices.

The trio has served the charity for a combined total of 36 years as trustees, with John Maddox appointed as Chair of Trustees for 8 of those years.

Dr. Paddy O’Donnell was one of the charity's first medical officers and admitted the very first patient when the adult hospice opened in 1991.

Jack Sapsworth is Keech Hospice Care's longest serving trustee and was involved with raising a great deal of money before the hospice even opened 18 years ago. Jack was also Chair of the charity’s trading company for 10 years.

Jack said: “I’ve enjoyed my time as a trustee and I’m not going away! I’ll still be busy fundraising for the charity and will support the hospices for as long as I can.”

John Maddox stepped down as Chair last year but remained a trustee for the year to support the charity’s new Chair, Steve Hull.

Steve thanked all three men for their support: “On behalf of everyone at Keech Hospice Care, I’d like to express the greatest gratitude to John, Paddy and Jack for their enormous commitment to our hospices over a very long period of time.

"For many years, they have steered the charity through many changes and helped us reach the level of professional patient care we pride ourselves on today.”

The charity now welcomes four new trustees to the board: Maria Collins, Melanie Lillie, Leslie Robertson and Bill Tweddle.
