Midnight Walkers raise 100k for Keech Hospice Care
9 September 2010
What an amazing night!

It was an amazing night at Barnfield College in Luton on Saturday 4th September, when 750 women set off on the Keech Hospice Care Midnight Walk. An incredible £100,000 was pledged on the night for Keech Hospice Care, helping to continue the vital services, palliative care and support provided there for adults and children from across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes.
The walk was kicked off by Award-winning chef Jean Christophe Novelli, whose fiancée Michelle Kennedy was walking with their own team, the Novelli Angels. Everyone was spurred on by Gareth James who took to the stage to introduce the night’s proceedings, and to get the ladies moving, fitness instructors, Stephen, Adam and Dwaine were there to encourage a light warm up. Heart FM was also at the Walk, providing entertainment with their Heart Angels. With hundreds of walkers in fancy dress and many with personal stories to tell of loved ones cared for by Keech Hospice Care, it was an evening of high emotion and a lot of laughter!

“What a fantastic night and wonderful effort by everyone involved,” said Jacqui Shepherd, Fundraising Director at Keech Hospice Care.“We are absolutely delighted that all our walkers had a great night and raised such an amazing amount of money.I’d like to thank every single one of them on behalf of all our staff and the patients we care for.
“I’d also like to thank Jean Christophe Novelli and Michelle Kennedy for their wonderful support and also our sponsors, Cooperative Funeral Care, Luton Mall and Arriva who once again provided transport for all our hard working marshalls. And now we all have to get ready for our next Midnight Walk in Bedford on 18th September, where we’re hoping to have another great night!”
