Santas stream down the Embankment, Bedford

236 Santas gathered on the Embankment in Bedford for our first Santa Run in the town.

Santas at the start of the runHeart radio breakfast presenters, Emma and Tony, got the Santas underway and encouraged them around the two lap course to the finish line.

First across the line, in an impressive 23 minutes, was Christopher Urquhart, 18, a boarder at Bedford School.

Christopher said: “My nan, Judith, is a great supporter of Keech so she suggested I take part. I regularly race, but it was nice to take part today in an event that was all about the cause rather than the time.”

The oldest participant was Iva Barr, 82, of Bedford, who completed the run in 45 mins. Iva took up running just 27 years ago and is still a regular marathon runner. “This was actually a short run for me,“ laughed Iva on the finishing line, “but it was good fun!”

The runners are expected to raise over £20,000 in sponsorship for our children's hospice.
