The money was raised at a Charity golf day held in November 2010 under the auspices of the then Captain of the Golf Society, Steve Donovan.

Mr Donovan, his father Alan, and Society Secretary Mark Paton visited Keech recently to hand over the donation, see the facilities and to meet the staff.

Steve said "The Charity Day is always so well supported and our members and their guests are so generous on the day.

“The hospice provides unique care to young people from all over Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and is where children from Watford would be referred to if they needed to be.

“The facilities we have seen are first class and all of the staff have been so friendly and enthusiastic. We expected the mood to be quite sombre but there is a great feeling of positive energy and a real focus on making the time the children have at the hospice as good a possible. We are really proud as a Society to be able to help such a great cause."

Mike Keel, chief executive at Keech Hospice Care added: “All of us here at Keech, our patients, their families and our volunteers and staff, would like to thank the West Watford Golfing Society team and their guests for their generosity.

“The hospice is reliant on the community for 75% of our funding and this new mini-bus will help us to provide more facilities for users of our care services”
