Glowing success for Keech Hospice Care!

27 March 2017

More than five hundred people have pledged £35,500 by getting their glow on for Keech Hospice Care.

Luton’s first ever Glow Walk, on Saturday 25 March, raised money for Keech Hospice Care so it can continue to care for children across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes and adults in Luton and Bedfordshire.

Mark Relf, Keech Hospice Care’s Regional and Events Fundraising Manager, said, “Glow Walk was a brilliant success! Seeing the streets of Luton filled with 554 people having fun and with glow sticks plus fluorescent paint, was fantastic. We certainly made our mark!

“The atmosphere was brilliant! People are always surprised when we tell them it costs over £5.6 million pounds a year to run Keech Hospice Care. Only 30% of our funding comes from the NHS and so we rely on our fantastic community for our survival. Thanks to everyone who came out glowing – they were all brilliant! Without our supporters we would not be able to continue caring for very sick people at a time in their lives when they need it most.”

Dawn Farmer, from Stevenage, took part in the charity’s event and raised £190. “It was brilliant fun to see so many people walking in local streets glowing in the dark. My son Charlie has an incurable condition and we’ve been receiving support from Keech Hospice Care for the past seven years. No one should have to face limit-limiting conditions on their own. By taking part in the Glow Walk and raising money I can help the hospice care for more people. Bring on the new Colour Dash in July ! I’m signing up for that next”

Join the fun: The Colour Dash for Keech Hospice Care is on Sunday 16 July. It’s bigger and better with foam, paint, obstacles and after-party. Sign up: www.keech.org.uk/colourdash.
